CREATIVE MONEY: THE PODCAST

Demystifying Finance for Indie Filmmakers

The Indie Filmmaker's Guide to Funding, Wealth & Creative Freedom

Most indie filmmakers go broke trying to fund their dream project. Not because they're not talented... but because nobody ever taught them how money actually works in this industry. It took me and my filmmaking partner over 10 years to navigate this on our first feature film, and now it’s my mission to demystify the process so others can get there faster, and with a lot less guesswork.

I've spent almost 20 years producing for TLC, Food Network, HBO Max - everything from big budget reality shows to scrappy indie features. And here's what I learned the hard way: the filmmakers who make it aren't the ones with the best connections. They're the ones who understand how to position their projects, talk to investors, structure deals, and think like an entrepreneur while staying true to their creative vision.

That's what CREATIVE MONEY is about.

Every episode, I'm pulling back the curtain on the real business of filmmaking—the stuff they don't teach you in film school.

I bring on investors, producers, distributors, and creatives who've actually done it. Who've raised the money, closed the deals, and figured out what’s actually working in independent film financing.
